Hamilton Beach 40871 Review by Ginny (CO)

This product was purchased for my 90 year old mother. Pro's: It is easy to fill...lid lifts up with a push of the button. Can be filled easily with a small pitcher rather than under the faucet. Lid snaps back down by pushing on the cover. Easy for arthritic hands. Water heats fairly quickly and you can hear it boiling and when it shuts off. Very pretty bright red.
Cons:It is hard to see the water line on the side...wish they moved that to the front. Can get heavy if completely filled.
Rate this product as excellent...much better than competitor B&D...that lid was too difficult to remove.

A pretty decent kettle (for what you can purchase in the USA- the UK is a long way ahead in kettle design).

My only complaints are that the actual colour of the kettle is a darker and cooler shade of red than displayed on the picture, and the plastic edging around the bottom of the kettle itself- there isn't a seal between it and the steel, so when you fill it up, a little bit of water invariably dribbles inside the base of the machine. Haven't had any problems with that yet, but I hope it doesn't cause a short-circuit.

Anyways, pretty much ok, so three stars.

I received the product a few days after I ordered it. It arrived in a nice little box, well-packaged and it seems very sturdy. For the price, it seems like a very solid unit. Products like this that have many different heavy wires coming in and out of it can be annoying since they are so light weight they just don't stay put very well if anything moves. But this actually has metal on it and is a pretty good weight. I still may try and use some sticky tape or something to get it to sit firmly where I put it.

I just installed a home theater projector in my basement and am using HDMI which my receiver does not switch (too old). So I needed a way to feed in my component output from my receiver and convert it to HDMI. It does a pretty good job though there is one minor issue that may or may not be related to the converter.

I occasionally get a slight periodic 'blink' of brightness when watching the converted signal. Just enough to be annoying. I have tried reseating the component cable connections and that sometimes does the trick but it seems if I unplug and plug the DC power, it also sometimes fixes it. Still have to do some more testing to narrow it down.

I haven't tried the remote control yet since I just keep it on the same input and switch the component with my receiver.

Other than that, it seems to work great and the build quality for such an inexpensive item is really great.

I also got the opposite of this item (HDMI to Component/VGA) the first time. Got the right product the second time. Amazon was was great about taking back and giving a refund for the wrong item.

The product itself does what it's supposed to do. Lets me hook up my Wii and older non-HD gaming consoles to my computer monitor. It also came with a two button remote, which I wasn't expecting.

My Check Engine light kept coming on with my (100,000+ miles) 2000 Saturn SL. I went to O'Reilly's Auto Parts and borrowed their diagnostic tool (saved money by not taking it to a repair shop) and it indicated that the front oxygen sensor was bad. I bought both front and rear sensors as the rear would likely fail soon. I replaced the front myself as it was easy. I had a mechanic replace the rear (just past catalytic converter)as it had a welded shield on it that made it a pain to remove and I lacked the tools. All is good now for another 100,000 miles and the parts were about HALF the price.

This sleep sheep and spill cloth set is a perfect little gift for a baby shower. The spill rags are extremely soft and my neice absolutely loves the sleep sheep.

Take note of the product dimensions as this product is smaller than I expected it to be, but nonetheless an awesome gift.

I still gave the burp cloths four stars because they look and feel really durable but the sheep that came with them is so teeny. I am not sure how they got it to look bigger in the picture but I guess that is advertising for you at its best. I tried finding measurements after I received it but could only find the measurements for the spill cloths. I am going to keep the product because I like cloud B products but I need to learn to read everything thoroughly! Learn from my mistake.

This is a great item...a bit overpriced but it's worth it at the end.
I first used my "UV Buff" last weekend while fishing..no more sunburn. It dries very quickly, it's light weight, you get comments(!), it's breathable and it aint hot despite the humid tropical weather over here.
I use it with a straw hat, polarized sunglasses, long sleeved shirt and pants...complete coverage of your skin that allows you to fish right under the tropical midday sun with no worries about sunburn.
Sunglasses can get foggy but after a while you learn how to set things right and prevent the fogging.

Overall, really nice product. Make sure it is well secured to your wall. I do have to say that when it comes to Oxo products that this does "feel" a little cheap, but it looks and functions quite well. My only real complaint (if it can even be called that)is that depending upon what brand and thickness of paper towel you use, the bar that is suppose to keep it in place seems to become relatively useless. Even though I would like the paper towel to stay in place I have given up on this as happening in everyday life. It just doesn't, which is fine because of the tensioner on the roll of paper towel itself. In general if you are looking for a slightly modern and very functional paper towel holder, Oxo has come through again.

The right amount of paper towels when you want them. That's what you get with this dispenser, no more pulling to get one towel and getting three or more and having too lay them on the counter for later. We have had this installed for about three weeks now and it looks great under the cabinet. One thing of note, if you do mount the unit under a cabinet make sure you leave enough room to raise the arm allowing refill. The anchors supplied with the unit are quite sturdy and hold it to the wall securely.

I bought a Tracker 4 tripod and wanted an extra quick shoe. Contrary to another review that says this is too small and gets loose, it fits quite tightly for me. The heads it fits in have a "secondary safety lock for security" (quoting from the side of my tripod's box) which WILL keep it from falling out, but doesn't hold it tightly at all. There is a knob on the side of the head to lock it in tightly, and it works fine with that tightened.

The only difference between this one and the one that came with the tripod is that the main screw has a slot it slides in for adjustment of where the camera sits, and there is no locator pin. I also wish the main screw had the flip up piece for added torque instead of the coin slot, but it isn't a huge deal. I'll probably leave the quick shoe attached to the camera all the time anyway. That is the whole point of getting an extra one isn't it?

It does what it's supposed to do. However, I gave it only four stars because it didn't have enough adjustment to get the focus point of the camera lens over the center axis of the pan-head. My Sony DSC-HX1 does a great job of panoramas by stitching the shot together electronically. While it does work, the ideal would be to have the pivoting axis directly under the spot in the lens where the focus is.

This was the 3rd one of these umbrellas that we bought. One of our earlier purchases had snapped when the wind changed direction and caught us off-guard. So beware, even with the baffle, if you have it tilted and the wind swings around the pole may not withstand the wind. Also, we really wanted the one that had the pole that screwed into the sand and sadly this one did not - but the seller gave us a good discount so we were happy with that. Overall, these umbrellas are great for the beach - we like to have 2 with us to give lots of shade. Definitely worth the extra $$ over a smaller umbrella.

Purchased this umbrellas assuming it came with the "long screw base and the bar to wind it in as the description said. Got it one day before vacation. Missing screw base and bar. Amazon rep said "Send it back for refund". Obviously I want for vacation. They give me a lousy $8.80 and I have to spend upwards of 25$ on vacation to purchase what I would have paid $13.10 for on Amazon had I known it did not come with screw base.

The umbrella I purchased so far has been all it was cracked up to be. It works great in beach sand. No need for some beach sand stand. It tilts easily to block the sun. It stands up well to the wind. It looks great & is relatively easy to set up. However, I cant say the same about the carrying bag. The second time I used it, the carrying strap separated from the bag itself. I noticed that the strap was coming off the bag on both ends of the strap. Also the seam on the open end where you insert the umbrella was coming apart. Fortunately my wife was able to sew it back together (better than new). I guess this is what we get for buying EVERYTHING from China. More crap! When will we learn? Can't we make anything here?

This is a very pretty rocker with a classic shape. I feel that it is strong enough for my 2-year-old granddaughter, and I don't worry it will tip over when she rocks in it with enthusiasm. There were no rough edges on the seat or arms to scratch her. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it was harder to put together than it needed to be. Some of the parts didn't match up well.

I bought this for my 6 year old son (he wanted one like his sister's). It is the perfect size, with room for him to grow. I purchased the color "natural". It is nice wood and does not look cheap. It is very sturdy, assembly was easy, and I didn't have any of the problems the other reviews mention. The only negative is when my son sits in it, he isn't able to easily lean back and rock. The back on the rocker is angled too up-right and needs to lean backward a bit more. However, it could be a safety feature to keep small kids from falling over backward. Overall, I'm happy with it, and it's a great little rocker for the price.

That's all, doggie loves it.

Only complaint is that Amazon stated that it would arrive before X-Mas and it didn't. No big deal, I don't think the dog noticed.

Easy to install, relatively quiet and good suction even with the 32 foot hose. The clear dirt chamber makes it easy to see the amount of dirt in the chamber, a good backup for the warning light. Well designed, easy to use and a great garage vacuum that takes up very little space. Worth the extra money.

I purchased this for my wife, who is fan and collector of Johnny Depp's works as well as a pianist, so this was the most perfect gift to add to her collection. She did have one complaint but it's more of an OCD thing. As a professional pianist, she says his finger stance is wrong and it makes it look like he's faking being able to play piano. Pianist tend to keep some curvature in their fingers for better control of finger pressure such as for forte, while in this poster, his fingers are fairly straight, much as how a child might tinker on a piano before actually learning how to play.

Still, all-in-all, it is a very good quality print on sturdy, laminated poster paper, suitable for framing and it will be that one print you find that the JD collector in your life likely won't already have. It's a double bonus if the person you are buying for also has an appreciation for music.
